About Us

Chipping Sodbury School is a mixed 11-18 comprehensive school, proud to be the result of centuries of development in the ancient, medieval town of Chipping Sodbury.  The present school has its roots in the Endowed School founded in the Middle Ages to provide free education for the townsmen.  In 1938 Chipping Sodbury Grammar School as it was then, moved to its present site.  It has been a comprehensive school since 1970.

The school admits up to 150 students a year from the full ability range and is a genuinely comprehensive, inclusive school.  We offer our students a broad, balanced and enriching curriculum that matches the needs of tomorrow's learners, so that they are prepared for employment, training or further education both in the local community and beyond.

In 2013 the school became a Co-operative Trust School, with the creation of Chipping Sodbury School Co-operative Trust.

On 1st April 2021 the school converted to an academy and became part of the Athelstan Trust.
