Student Leadership

House Councils and The Senate

Student leadership is further developed by extensive annual election processes to choose House Councillors to represent their tutor group, and then Senators who represent their House at whole-school level.

Councillors learn about leadership styles and play different roles in formal meetings.  They learn about democratic processes and the importance of representing others in debates and student voice activities.  They organise themselves and their peers in a number of ways through the year, and are expected to model the school values to others.

House Councils decide on the charities that we support each year, and on the programme for non-uniform days and other events.  We encourage students to be outward looking to the wider world, and consider options for supporting other children and communities here in the UK and in the wider world.  Councillors then help to organise events such as:

Leadership across the school

Students should speak to their tutor, PPL or Head of House if they want to find out more.
