Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Chipping Sodbury School is proud to be a fully inclusive school where there is provision for students with a wide range of additional needs. Teachers and Teaching Assistants receive regular specialist training on how to best support students with SEND in and out of the classroom. 'Student Passports' are created and updated to share information with staff regarding a students' strengths, specific learning needs and strategies that best support them.

Students with an EHCP
For those students with EHCPs, the school will respond to the specified requirements within the funding constraints made available by the Local Authority. Parents/carers with a child with an EHCP are encouraged to communicate directly with the SENDCo or Inclusion team to discuss their child.
Staff
Staff within the Inclusion team are experienced at working with neurodiverse young people and their calm, respectful, nurturing approach ensures our students make good progress.
The school works closely with the Local Authority SEND cluster team and a number of external professionals. The inclusion team also includes a speech and language therapist, educational psychologist and primary mental health specialist who meet regularly with students, families and staff to share their knowledge and expertise. Programmes of support are devised within this multi-professional team ensuring a consistent, structured approach to learning and positive outcomes based on the needs identified in the EHCP.
