About the PTA

All parents/carers of students at Chipping Sodbury School and all staff, teaching and non-teaching are members of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). The aim of the PTA is to raise money to support the school in providing resources for the use of all students in the school. In common with all schools extra finance is needed to support the daily activities of school life.

These range from the student Journals to PE equipment to Science, Mathematics and Geography resources, financial help for the school float for the Chipping Sodbury Festival as well as supplying plants to enhance the school environment. The PTA runs Discos for the younger students, the Christmas Fair and Draw, the Talent Show amongst other events. Some events, which are not primarily for fund raising, are also organised to help to strengthen communication and links within the school community. .

The PTA is run by an elected Committee who meet regularly at the school in the evening to organise events and who are always keen to welcome every parent/carer and member of staff to help in supporting the students in the school. The Committee can consist of up to 20 members including 5 officers, namely Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and Assistant Secretary. All members of the PTA are eligible to stand for any of these posts, elections are held at the Annual General Meeting and the posts are held for 2 years. The Headteacher is President of the PTA and a Deputy Headteacher is Vice-President. The PTA is a Registered Charity and is run in accordance with a Constitution which has been agreed by the Charity Commissioners.

The current officers of the PTA are:

Chair Katie Mansfield
Vice-Chair Vacancy
Secretary Vacancy
Treasurer Vacancy

The committee meetings are informal, friendly but purposeful and are open to all parents/carers and staff. They are usually held in the school library. All the committee would welcome new faces - some of the current ones are quite old! We are always open to new ideas to help support the education of our sons and daughters at Chipping Sodbury School and to have some fun along the way.

If you feel you would like to join in some of this fun please do contact any of the committee members - contact details are available via the school office. You can be assured of a very warm welcome.
