World Book Day - Thursday 6
March
Following the success of last year's event, where staff came
to school dressed as their favourite fictional
characters, this year students had a chance to do the same.

Mrs Pickering, School Librarian, commented "There was a great
turnout for World Book Day and it was wonderful to see so many
students enthusiastically involved this time. As well as the
literary benefits more people were smiling, so it was worth it
for that reason alone."
Five students were selected as prize winners and each was able
to spend £5 in the book sale held to coincide with World Book
Day. Well done to Juliet, Dr Who, Aslan, Arthur Dent and
Goldilocks!
School Travel Plan
We are pleased to report that following the creation of the
school Travel Plan, we have been awarded £9990 to improve cycle
storage facilities at school. As a result of this success, we
have now also applied to the Local Authority and the National
Lottery for additional funding to support the project. In the
meantime we are exploring the various options available for
cycle storage whilst we await the outcome of these applications.
Bugsy
Malone
Thanks to all the cast and
crew and audiences who supported the Bugsy
Malone performances.
Staff and
students have been working hard for some 6
months, rehearsing their acting, singing and
dancing. Featuring a cast of 50 and a live band,
the show was performed over 3 nights –
Wednesday 4th, Thursday 5th
and Friday 6th July following a
matinee performance to Primary Schools on July 3rd.
This
truly has been a labour of love – with pupils
involved from right across the age range,
supported by teaching and support staff in a
whole range of roles from make up to costume and
set design. The Site Management Team have also
been inventive to say the least – Bugsy was
driving Fat Sam in a working car.
A DVD recording of the
performances is available to buy at
a cost of £7.50. Please contact the school
office for further details.
