All students and staff who come to the school are given a username and password giving them access to a wealth of information both online and in school. Students have the opportunity to upload and download files, access moderated email and access software over the Internet from a home machine. The IT Support department is happy to help with any queries or problems that students may encounter, whether it is anything from a small piece of coursework or using our advanced CAD / CAM machining tools.

The department has good links with other schools in the area, and helps out with problems other schools encounter. The school has an extensive list of software, however we have listed some of the larger packages and summaries below:

• Microsoft Windows XP Professional as standard on all new PC's

• Microsoft Windows 2000 as a minimum standard for all machines bought before release of Windows XP

• Microsoft Office 2003 used throughout the school and available on every machine

• Microsoft Exchange 2003 as standard for our Email Services

• Broadband from SWGfL with managed content filtering

• All servers run Microsoft Windows 2003

• Extensive Design & Technology software including Corel DRAW, 2D Design, Pro Desktop

• Extensive Suite of Maths software, including MSW Logo, Winlogo, Autograph, Bounceback

• Extensive Science Software, including a range of Physics, Chemistry and Biology packages

• Web based literature and language guides for English, including Othello, Romeo and Julliet

• ICT Resources including GCSE ICT CD-ROMS and study guides

And much more. We also have a range of specialist software within our Design Technology Departments, Modern Foreign Languages Department, and Expressive Arts departments.
