Ofsted Inspection September 2008

Staff and governors at Chipping Sodbury School are delighted with the recognition by Ofsted Inspectors of the improvement in standards and achievement since the last inspection.

The Inspector's report highlights a broad curriculum that meets the needs of all students, the enjoyment and engagement of students in lessons, good quality care, a rise in achievement and standards, as well as a high degree of community harmony, evident in the school and beyond. The inspection team identified as key elements in this success the 'clear vision, leadership and direction of the headteacher and senior leadership team', the 'improved teaching and academic guidance students receive' and 'lessons that stimulate learning and motivate students'. The team went on to praise students' behaviour and their very positive attitude to work which is founded on the school's core values of respect, responsibility, aspiration and integrity.

The Ofsted team reported 'Standards in GCSE examinations have been rising since the last inspection and results were above average this year'.”
