German Exchange
German exchange programme
We are always looking to recruit students interested in taking part in the next phase of the exchange programme to Germany. Please see the information section below for more details or contact your German teacher if you are interested in taking part.
About the programme
Since 2004 we have had a link between Chipping Sodbury School and Werdenfels Gymnasium in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Bavaria, Southern Germany). Through pen friend letters and whole class projects the link was strengthened and in May 2006 we took our first party of students from Chipping Sodbury to Garmisch.
In November 2006 the German students returned to Chipping Sodbury for the first time, where we entertained them with a varied programme of events, including visits to London, Weston-Super-Mare and the Bristol Blue Glass factory.
Subsequent visits have taken place since 2007 and the exchange now lasts for 9 days, during which students live with a German student, experiencing life in a German family and school. Highlights of the trips have included visits to the Allianz Arena in Munich (World Cup 2006), sightseeing in Innsbruck, Austria and a day in the snow at the top of the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain.
