Woodcock Shield Match Saturday 29th May
Congratulations to our Year 10 boys' football team who won the Woodcock Shield after beating Filton High School 3-1 at Ashton Gate. Two goals from Rob Belcher and one from Mike Boulton ensured the Shield will take pride of place in our new sports centre very soon. Well done to the team and thanks to the many supporters at the game that cheered the boys to victory.

Chipping Sodbury U13 Cricket vs Winterbourne Academy
The first match of the cricket season welcomed Winterbourne Academy U13 team to Chipping Sodbury. Winterbourne won the toss and chose to put Sodbury into bat. Winterbourne had a couple of very fast and accurate bowlers, who quickly made their mark on the game. After just two overs Sodbury found themselves on 7 for 2 wickets. Jack Thacker and Will Mason helped to halt Winterbourne's bowlers and produced some excellent shots.
The best partnership of the day (21) came from captain George Walker and Ross Cox. After playing themselves in, they started to relax and play some outstanding shots. Eventually their wickets fell, leaving our inexperienced 'tail ender' batters to add a few more runs to the score. Sodbury finished their innings with a score of 54 all out.
With a small target to defend of only 54, it was going to be a hard task for the boys. The Winterbourne opening pair were very strong and soon started to hunt down the 55 runs required to win. Jack Thacker bowled very accurately without any reward. Walker and Cox managed a wicket each, however, the pick of the bowlers was Callum Davidge who bowled very consistently, picking up a wicket which wicket keeper Pete Rogers held onto.
Winterbourne finally reached their total finishing on 55 for 4 with 9 overs to spare. Although the team lost there were many positives to take from the game and with training underway on Tuesday nights the team will continue to improve.

Sports Relief
Congratulations to all of the students who completed their mile for Sports Relief. Students from years 7-11 completed 6 laps of the Astroturf pitch (equivalent to 1m) in aid of Sports Relief in one of their designated PE lessons. Some students opted to run the complete distance while others did a combination of walking and running to complete the distance. Socks were on sale at £2 per pair with proceeds going to Sports Relief and we managed to sell over 270 pairs. The majority of those who took part seemed to enjoy the event and the sun shone brightly, thank goodness, for each year group's event. Some students chose to continue running for as long as they could and completed over and above the expected distance of 1 mile. All key stage 3 groups were rewarded with a "Sports Relief" sticker and the knowledge that they had contributed to a worthwhile cause. We managed to take a group photo at the end of each event where students can be seen displaying their stickers and socks. Thank you to the students and staff for the support that they have shown to this event.
