Curriculum
Pathways to learning KS3.
Chipping Sodbury School has embraced changes to the KS3 curriculum. These changes have given the school an opportunity to be more creative and flexible in its approach to learning whilst still retaining the essence of the traditional national curriculum subjects. We believe that information, advice and guidance for students, and the development of their personal, social and health education are critically important.
The curriculum is more than just 'subjects' as there are many additional themes that combine to create a total learning package. One way of realising this is through students being released from their timetable to pursue in-depth study. The remainder of the curriculum includes national curriculum core, foundation and other subjects.
14 - 19 curriculum.
Current education practice and thinking now looks at education in KS4 and KS5 together as 'the 14-19 curriculum'. The school has its own Sixth Form Centre which is run in collaboration with two other local schools in what is locally known as The Link. The Link offers a wide range of courses at levels 2 and 3 in preparation for higher education, training or employment.
At KS4 we offer courses to allow students progress on their chosen pathways to their futures. This means that we offer a wide variety of courses, tailored vocational opportunities and work experience.
